The Christopher and Dana Reeve foundation is a wonderful foundation helping people living with spinal cord injuries. One of the amazing events they host is the “conquer the canyon” event. Very inspiring and worth a read!
I have always believed in the healing potential of outdoor sports and thus was immediately attracted to this foundation. They use surfing to enrich the lives of children with autism. Please take a look! Really cool stuff…
Here’s an awesome story of an athlete who has a foundation but won’t stop there. He realized that for his own fulfillment he needed to travel to Darfur to make a difference. This is his documentary.
Well, that might just be my favorite word and it would appear that I’m not alone. Sal Masekela an X Games announcer and Steve Larosiliere started a foundation named “STOKED”. STOKED’s mission is to develop Successful Teens with Opportunity, Knowledge, Experience, and Determination through action sports and mentoring.

After hanging out with a few friends who spend their time volunteering or working as firefighters, I have seen first hand just how great of athletes they are! Here is the story of one of them doing extraordinary things to help others.
I have always said that some of the best athletes in the world are our soldiers. They train hard to be the best at what they do in the name of our country. All too often they end up facing challenges that I can’t even begin to imagine as a result of their service.
Dave Sharpe was one of those soldiers. He was struggling with PTSD and didn’t know where to turn or who to talk to. That’s when he found Cheyenne, a pit bull rescue puppy. Over time he started to realize that she was the perfect outlet and that’s when he decided to start a program to help other vets have the same companionship.
It’s a great story and well worth a read.

I’ll never forget that day. I was 13 and we had just returned from a weekend trip as a family. We were listening to messages on our answering machine and my Aunt’s voice came on. She was hysterical, crying, upset. She had just been diagnosed with breast cancer and didn’t know where to turn. When cancer hits a family, it hits hard. Morgan’s story is no different. Morgan is a professional golfer who lost her mother to breast cancer when she was young and at the ripe old age of 21 has already done her part to raise $1MM for the cause. This is a great organization with the goal of inspiring, educating, and motivating amputees to become physically active through recreational and competitive sports. I have had the privilege of interacting with amputees in active adventure settings through my work at First Descents and I’m always amazed at how limitless their potential is. I love that this organization provides the outlet for people to learn to live amazing active lives with amputations by giving them the tools to do so.
Of course Amputee in Action (AIA) also puts on fundraising rides and has an official AIA Kit. Get one and get involved!

Many people came together for 350.org’s International Day of Climate Action. They showed their support by doing everything from holding up a sign to…well… THIS
