Cee Cee

Please watch this exclusive AG interview with Lilly Lorenzo-Luaces, a good friend and First Descents alum.

Cee Cee embodies the mission of AthletesGiving. After a diagnosis of cancer flipped her life upside down, she took back control by attending First Descents. That experience empowered and inspired her to challenge herself by running a half marathon, something she thought she would never do and to gave her the desire to pay it forward to other young adult survivors by raising 5k for First Descents.

Please watch this video and then click HERE to see her fundraising page if you can, make a 10 dollar contribution to help her achieve her goal.

A hero on many levels.

I often consider our servicemen and women to be some of the top athletes in the world.  On top of that they are putting themselves in harms way for a cause.  Whether you agree with the reasons we ask them to serve or not, you cannot deny that they are heroes to us all.

I would consider Troy Crawford among the top of the list of heroes in my book.  He bravely served our country in the middle east and in doing so was severely wounded.  After a lengthy recovery, Troy discovered the sport of kayaking through an amazing organization called Team River Runner (www.teamriverrunner.org).  It allowed him to fill many of the voids in his life after his injury and also became an avenue for him to give back to other wounded soldiers.  Troy is now a certified whitewater kayak instructor and teaches for Team River Runner.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Troy recently.  Please take a few minutes to check it out.  Especially the very end, when he offers a perspective that will knock anyone’s ass back into place.

Troy, you are the man.

Life Turns. The Max Mancini Story

If I have ever heard a more moving or powerful story about philanthropy, I can’t recall it.  I am proud to call Max Mancini a friend and that is why the news of his accident hit me hard.  Hell, you don’t even have to know the guy to be saddened by his story and you certainly don’t need to know him to be proud of his efforts to find a silver lining.  Please take a few minutes to watch/listen to this exclusive AG interview with Max about his up and coming “Life Turns” camp.

It’s important to note that Max is donating ALL of his royalties from his pro model ski (link below) to the Denver Children’s hospital and Rossignol is matching it.  About $100 from each pair sold.  To get involved, support, volunteer for or donate to this amazing cause, please visit wwwlifeturns.org and if you’re in the Crested Butte area please attend their fundraising event on Friday the 13th.  Max, you sir, are THE man.
